In the past years the dental implantology has undergone the development mostly due to new possibilities created by regenerative procedures of hard and soft tissues. There are many surgical techniques as well as biomaterials available nowadays. Today we treat more and more sophisticated and compromised cases. The qualification for the proper procedure should take into consideration several factors in which the biology of bone regeneration plays a major role.
Based on this aspect Author will discuss the indications for autogenous bone grafts versus guided bone regeneration procedures. Thorough the discussion the clinical aspects of autogenous, allogen grafts and different regenerative procedures: tent techniques and the use of titanium mesh techniques will be presented. As the regenerative therapy may be unpredictable due to the fact that the procedures are “technique sensitive” the author will present also modifications to the surgical techniques that allow for achieving better clinical results in long term observations.
